It's been awhile since I contributed.... (Hi, Juuuuu if you're reading)
I decided to have zero creativity and post on a topic that my sister had already talked about some months ago. However, it's my take on the whole experience.
End November last year, my sister offered me the other side of her cartilage piercing that she purchased and I took it. Honestly, I am not a big fan of piercings or needles going beyond the layers of my skin. So, with the company of my friend I went to get it done at the Sommerset 313's B*Dazzle.
It is true to some extent that the piercing was painless. I same some extent, as I felt a certain pressure as the earring went through. It wasn't so much pain as it was just some sort of very very very very very slight discomfort.
The hard part #1:
Is the moments prior to the piercing where you sit in that chair and the lady sprays stuff on to your ear and you're wondering if you're doing the right thing.
The hard part #2:
Recovery is such a bitch.
So many stories about recovery. Where do i begin?
Two weeks after the piercing I went down to the same store for a complimentary check up, turns out it was all pus and infected and the lady recommended that I remove it. Not wanting to go through the whole process again I asked for another suggestion, which she kindly provided, which was to clean it frequently with HOT water. Slowly the wound cleared up. Personal win for soldiering on.
Of course on and off the wound continued to be infected and I would do the same thing.
According to a reliable source (my sister) it takes 6 months to fully heal.
It's been five months more or less and.... I went clubbing the other night and my friend slapped me on the ear by accident whilst dancing, it hurt.... a lot.
Also, any strand of hair that gets caught in the earring, is like a knife slicing on the wound.
I would not recommend going through with it if you do not see yourself being patient and taking care of it. If you're a side sleeper like myself, that could be a problem as well.
As you can see in the picture below... I'm not too sure if its just me or that I have develop somewhat of a swell on the tip of my ear. It just looks different.
Would i do it again?
- Not knowing how troublesome the process is, yes.
Would i get another one?
- Knowing the long drawn process of healing, nah uh.
I don't think it was all that helpful, but if you are like me and my sister who took ages to decide, i'm hoping it might've been!
Good night folks.
